Play Yukon Solitaire online

Yukon looks like Klondike but plays very differently. Every card is dealt at the start, there's no stock, and you can move any face-up card along with everything stacked on top of it, even if those cards aren't in order.

How to play

  • The goal is to build all four foundations up by suit, from Ace to King.
  • The deal. Seven columns. The first has a single card. The others have face-down cards with five face-up cards on top.
  • Building. Put a card on one that is one rank higher and the opposite colour. A red 6 goes on a black 7.
  • Big moves. Any face-up card can move, and everything on top of it comes along, in order or not. Only the card you pick up has to fit. That's the heart of Yukon.
  • Empty columns only take a King, along with whatever is on top of it.

Tips

  • Dig for hidden cards. The columns on the right hide the most. Moves that turn a card over are almost always worth making.
  • Get Aces and 2s out early. A low card buried under a big stack holds up a whole suit.
  • Untangle in pieces. A messy stack can be split by moving the part above a useful card somewhere else.
  • Don't rush a King into a space unless it frees something you need.

Questions people ask

How is Yukon different from Klondike?
Yukon has no stock: all 52 cards are dealt into the columns. And you can move any face-up card together with the cards on top of it, even when they are not in sequence.
Can I move cards that are not in order?
Yes. Only the card at the bottom of the group you pick up has to fit where you put it. The cards on top of it just come along.
Is Yukon hard?
It sits in the middle. Many deals can be won with careful play, and unlimited undo makes it more forgiving.
Where does the name come from?
Like Klondike, it's named after the Yukon in northern Canada, the region of the Klondike gold rush.
