Play Russian Solitaire online
Russian Solitaire is Yukon with one tougher rule: every build has to stay in the same suit. Same deal, same big group moves, but far fewer places to put each card.
How to play
- The goal is to build all four foundations up by suit, from Ace to King.
- The deal. Seven columns, just like Yukon: one card in the first, then face-down cards with five face-up cards on top in the others.
- Building. A card goes on one that is one rank higher and the same suit. The 6 of hearts goes on the 7 of hearts.
- Group moves. Any face-up card can move with everything on top of it. Only the card you pick up has to fit.
- Empty columns only take a King, along with whatever is on top of it.
Tips
- Think suit by suit. Each card has exactly one card it can go on, so find where that card is before you move.
- Turn over hidden cards first. With so few options, every card you can see matters.
- Protect empty columns. A space is the only place to park a King and the stack on top of it.
- Use undo to look ahead. Try a line of moves and back out if it goes nowhere.
Questions people ask
- What is the difference between Russian Solitaire and Yukon?
- The only difference is how you build. In Yukon a card goes on the opposite colour. In Russian Solitaire it has to be the same suit, which makes it much harder.
- Can I move cards that are not in order?
- Yes. As in Yukon, any face-up card can move with the cards on top of it. Only the card you pick up has to fit.
- Is Russian Solitaire hard?
- Yes. It's one of the harder one-deck games and many deals can't be won, so don't be put off by a loss.
- Is there a stock?
- No. All 52 cards are dealt at the start, so everything you need is somewhere on the table.
