Play Scorpion Solitaire online
Scorpion uses one deck but plays like Spider. Seven columns start in a tangle, and your job is to sort them into four suits running from King down to Ace.
How to play
- The deal. Seven columns of seven. In the first four, the top three cards are face down. Three cards wait in the stock.
- Build down in suit. The 6 of spades goes on the 7 of spades.
- Move whole stacks. Any face-up card can move with everything on top of it, in order or not. Only the card you pick up has to fit.
- Empty columns only take a King.
- The stock. Tap it to deal the last three cards, one onto each of the first three columns. You can do this whenever you like, but only once.
- The goal. A complete King to Ace run in one suit lifts off the table. Clear all four suits to win.
Tips
- Free the hidden cards first. The face-down cards in the first four columns are where most games are won or lost.
- Clear a column for a King. Kings stuck high in a column block everything below them.
- Time the stock. Those three cards land on the first three columns and can bury cards you need.
Questions people ask
- How is Scorpion different from Spider?
- Scorpion uses one deck instead of two, deals almost everything at the start, and lets you move any face-up card with the cards on top of it, like Yukon. In Spider you can only move ordered runs.
- Where do finished suits go?
- When a column ends in a full King to Ace run of one suit, the run lifts off and stacks at the bottom left, the same as in Spider.
- Can I deal the stock at any time?
- Yes. The three stock cards can be dealt whenever you want, even onto empty columns.
- Is Scorpion hard?
- Quite. Many deals can be won with planning, but a bad start in the face-down cards can make some impossible.
